A hotel earns its keep on a city break when it gives you both things: a front-row seat to the city, and somewhere genuinely lovely to land once your tired feet have given up exploring for the day.
Hey Lolly

If you are planning a city break and trying to work out whether this hotel is worth the spend, here is my honest Wyndham Grand Krakow Old Town Krakow review after a three-night stay. Set on Floriańska 28 in the heart of Krakow’s Old Town, the hotel positions itself as a five-star base with 60 rooms and suites, a restaurant and a spa zone, all within easy walking distance of the city’s biggest landmarks.
Krakow, in my opinion, is hugely underrated. It is one of those cities that feels layered from the second you arrive, deeply historic, effortlessly walkable, full of atmosphere and somehow still immaculate despite the constant rhythm of people moving through it from morning to midnight. For a couples city break built around discovering more of the city and its history, this hotel turned out to be exactly where we wanted to be.

First Impressions
From the moment I arrived, the stay felt like a treat. Welcomed with complimentary Prosecco and nibbles in reception, which was such a lovely start and exactly the sort of detail that shifts a hotel from simply nice to genuinely memorable.
The hotel itself feels modern and polished, but not cold. It has that clean, quietly luxe feel that works especially well for a city break because it gives you comfort without making everything feel overly formal. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful throughout, and that friendliness really stayed consistent across the whole trip.
Location-wise, it is hard to fault, and that is a huge part of what makes this Wyndham Grand Krakow Old Town Krakow review such a positive one. The hotel sits on Floriańska Street, one of Krakow’s best-known historic streets and part of the city’s Royal Route, the ceremonial path that once led through the Old Town towards Wawel. It has carried the same name for nearly 700 years and was one of the first streets in Krakow to be cobbled, which somehow makes staying here feel even more special once you know it.

The Room
We stayed in a Premium Suite, and the biggest win for me was the sense of space. After full days of walking, sightseeing and eating our way around Krakow, it was such a relief to come back to a room that felt large, comfortable and genuinely easy to relax in.
There was enough space to actually live in the room for a few days, not simply use it as a place to sleep, and that matters on a three-night city break. Rather than the usual compact city-centre compromise, it felt airy, comfortable and refreshingly generous.
The minibar was generously stocked too, one of those little touches that makes a room feel more considered. And in a city like Krakow, where value still feels refreshingly intact, it was especially nice to have this level of comfort in such a prime location without the usual wince factor.
It was the little things, robes, slippers, welcome note, a well-stocked minibar, those polished bathroom details, that made the whole stay feel that bit more luxurious.

The Spa
The spa was a real highlight.
In fact, it was probably one of the standout parts of the entire stay. We ended up having the spa almost entirely to ourselves on both days, which gave it that rare feeling of discovering something special without having to share it with half the city.
On a city break, especially one that has you walking for hours, a good spa stops feeling like a bonus and starts feeling like a reward. By the end of the day, it was exactly what our legs were hoping for, and one of the parts of the stay we appreciated most.
If you are booking through Expedia and happen to have VIP perks, the 20% off spa services once per stay is absolutely worth using!

Breakfast, Food and Drink
We did not book breakfast at the hotel, and honestly, I would make the same decision again.
Breakfast is available, with the hotel listing a buffet option from around PLN 140 per person, but as a proper foodie, I had no intention of staying put every morning when Krakow has so much to offer beyond the hotel doors.
That was part of the joy of staying here, really. You are so perfectly placed that heading out for breakfast, brunch or coffee never feels like an effort. It feels like part of the point.
And if food plays any real part in how you travel, that is exactly how I would do Krakow. I’ve shared all of my favourite finds in a separate Where to Eat and Drink in Krakow guide, coming soon, because this city deserves much more than a rushed hotel breakfast and a half-hearted verdict.

The Location
This is where the hotel really earns its stripes.
It sits right in the middle of Krakow Old Town, just off the action and within a short walk of the Main Market Square and St Mary’s Basilica which is well worth stepping inside, or even booking a guided tour if you want to properly understand the history. The official hotel positioning also places it close to the Royal Road, and that really is the sweet spot for a first city-break stay.
The Main Market Square itself dates to the city’s medieval re-planning in 1257 and remains the historic and social centre of Krakow, with the Cloth Hall still sitting at its heart as a reminder of the square’s long role in trade and city life.
St Mary’s Basilica is one of the city’s best-known landmarks, and being able to stroll there within minutes rather than having to “head in” from a more anonymous hotel base makes a huge difference to how immersive the trip feels.
What I especially liked was that despite being right in the heart of somewhere lively, the area still felt surprisingly manageable. Krakow has this wonderful ability to stay vibrant without tipping into grimy. There is life, movement, nightlife, people everywhere, but it still feels incredibly clean, beautiful and well-kept. That balance is part of the reason I found the city so charming in the first place and the people clearly take pride in their country.

Anything to Know Before Booking?
The only real watch-out here is that breakfast is not always included, and if you add it on separately it is not cheap. That said, I still think skipping it works in your favour in a city like this.
The hotel also lists practical extras such as airport transfer options and parking fees, which are worth factoring in if you are planning more of a door-to-door stay.
For me, though, this is very much a hotel you book for location, comfort and ease rather than one where you intend to spend every waking hour inside.
Is Wyndham Grand Krakow Old Town Worth It?
Yes – a resounding yes!
For a three-night city break, this hotel absolutely delivered. It felt special from the moment of arrival, the suite was spacious and comfortable, the spa was superb, the staff were lovely, and the location made exploring Krakow feel effortless.
Most importantly, it made the whole trip feel smoother. And that is what a really good city hotel is supposed to do. It should remove friction, add comfort and make the place you are visiting even easier to fall in love with.
Krakow already has so much going for it – history, beauty, atmosphere, excellent food, fascinating neighbourhoods filled with so much history. In short there’s far more to see and do than many people seem to realise. Staying somewhere as well placed as Wyndham Grand Krakow Old Town only sharpened all of that and made everything so much easier to discover!
