Pan Pacific London: A Different Kind of Luxury Hotel

Pan Pacific London makes an impression before you even walk through the door.

Its sheer scale immediately sets it apart from London’s more conventional luxury hotels. Instead of historical grandeur and gilded interiors, Pan Pacific offers soaring glass, panoramic windows and a sleek, contemporary identity.

Inside, tasteful decoration, carefully considered lighting and an incredible signature scent create an immediate feeling of luxury. Although the design feels ultra-modern, it never becomes cold or clinical.

We visited during one of the particularly hot spells of the British summer. Consequently, returning to the perfectly air-conditioned hotel after spending time in the city felt glorious.

The whole building seemed calm, composed and expensive in all the right ways.

Arriving and Checking In at Pan Pacific London

We arrived in London at around 10am, well before the hotel’s official 3pm check-in time.

Understandably, our room wasn’t ready. However, the reception team immediately offered us refreshments and took care of our luggage. Plenty of staff were available at the front desk, so guests received help quickly rather than gathering in a queue.

With our bags safely stored, we headed into London to enjoy the morning.

Just after midday, the hotel sent me a personalised text to confirm that our room was ready. Therefore, we gained access almost three hours before the scheduled check-in time.

This thoughtful and efficient arrival set the tone for the rest of our stay. The staff handled everything smoothly and always seemed one step ahead.

Our Deluxe Room at Pan Pacific London

We stayed for two nights in a Deluxe Room on the sixth floor.

My genuine first reaction when I opened the door was simply: wow.

The room felt spacious, immaculate and properly luxurious. A huge bed took centre stage, dressed in the sort of divine linen that makes climbing into it feel like an occasion.

More importantly, the bed felt every bit as comfortable as it looked. We slept exceptionally well on both nights, while the blackout curtains and effective soundproofing kept the outside world firmly outside.

Despite staying in one of London’s liveliest and best-connected neighbourhoods, we didn’t hear any disruptive street or city noise.

Meanwhile, the wide panoramic-style windows gave us impressive views across the surrounding buildings. They also filled the room with natural light without compromising its calm atmosphere.

Cleanliness remained faultless throughout our stay.

A Bathroom Made for Lingering

The bathroom became another highlight of our Pan Pacific London stay.

It featured a generously sized walk-in shower, a deep bathtub, a heated towel rail and some of the fluffiest towels and robes imaginable. Jo Loves bathroom products, from the fragrance brand created by Jo Malone, added another layer of indulgence.

The bathroom didn’t simply look attractive. It felt spacious, practical and designed for taking your time.

In fact, almost every detail encouraged us to slow down: fill the bath, wrap up in a robe and temporarily forget that one of the busiest parts of London waited outside.

Clever In-Room Technology

Pan Pacific London’s contemporary approach becomes especially apparent through its in-room technology.

Want to open the curtains? Use the remote.

Dim the lights? Use the remote.

Call the concierge? You guessed it—use the remote.

Almost everything could be managed without leaving that enormous bed.

Technology in hotel rooms can sometimes feel unnecessarily complicated. Here, however, it made the room intuitive and wonderfully comfortable. Rather than functioning as a gimmick, it quietly enhanced the experience.

As someone who usually chooses traditionally styled hotels, this feature helped win me over. Pan Pacific’s version of luxury doesn’t depend on chandeliers or antique furniture. Instead, it combines space, comfort and intelligent design.

Late-Night Cocktails at Pan Pacific London

After eating dinner elsewhere in the city, we returned to the hotel for late-night cocktails.

The World Cup was taking place during our visit, so the bar felt lively and atmospheric rather than excessively hushed. Staff remained extremely attentive throughout, while the cocktails went down a treat.

After spending the evening in a very warm London, the cool, air-conditioned bar also offered some welcome relief.

It gave us exactly what we wanted at the end of the night: somewhere polished enough to feel special, yet lively enough that we didn’t need to speak in whispers.

The Pan Pacific London Infinity Pool

If I needed only one reason to return, the pool would provide it.

The hotel’s SENSORY Spa & Wellbeing floor features a temperature-controlled, 18.5-metre infinity pool with panoramic views across the City.

Guests can also access the sauna, steam room and other relaxation facilities, while treatments can be booked separately.

The infinity pool looks every bit as luxurious in person as it does in photographs.

We visited in the morning and, somehow, had the entire space to ourselves. Not one other person was in sight.

Of course, the hotel can’t guarantee a private pool. Nevertheless, having the whole space to ourselves transformed an already beautiful facility into a genuine pinch-me moment.

For that pocket of the morning, it felt less like visiting a hotel pool and more like having a private spa high above London.

The pool area looked immaculate and unapologetically indulgent. We also used the sauna and steam room, although we didn’t book any additional spa treatments.

Even without a treatment, the wellness floor felt like a central part of the hotel experience rather than an amenity added to improve the brochure. I would genuinely consider booking another stay for the Pan Pacific London spa alone.

Breakfast at Straits Kitchen

Breakfast came included with our direct booking and was served at Straits Kitchen.

Guests could choose from both an expansive buffet and an à la carte menu, so there was no shortage of options. I ordered Eggs Benedict on our first morning and a full English breakfast on the second.

Both breakfasts felt generous and substantial enough to set us up properly for the day. In addition, attentive table service made the experience feel relaxed rather than rushed.

The staff didn’t disappear after delivering the food, either. Service remained polished from beginning to end.

Considering the quality, choice and level of service, including breakfast in the room rate added considerable value to our stay.

From the Spa to Michelin-Starred Sunday Lunch

After our morning in the spa, we headed around the corner for a special Michelin-starred Sunday lunch at Galvin La Chapelle.

Its proximity illustrates one of Pan Pacific London’s greatest strengths: the location.

Is Pan Pacific London in a Good Location?

Pan Pacific London sits opposite Liverpool Street Station at 80 Houndsditch, placing guests between the City of London, Spitalfields and Shoreditch.

Eataly is right nearby, alongside an ever-growing collection of restaurants, cocktail bars and interesting places to explore. As a result, you can build an entire weekend around the neighbourhood without constantly crossing London.

Personally, I enjoy spending time in this part of the city. It feels energetic, evolving and less predictable than the traditional luxury-hotel neighbourhoods of Chelsea or Mayfair.

The location also makes the hotel particularly convenient for anyone arriving through Liverpool Street Station. Meanwhile, excellent transport connections make it easy to explore the rest of the capital.

Is Pan Pacific London Worth the Money?

At approximately £500 per night, Pan Pacific London is undeniably expensive.

However, we came away feeling that it offered superb value, particularly when compared with other five-star hotels in central London.

That value didn’t come from one extravagant gesture. Instead, it came from the complete experience:

• A genuinely spacious Deluxe Room
• An enormous and exceptionally comfortable bed
• Beautiful linen and faultless cleanliness
• A large bathroom with both a walk-in shower and deep bathtub
• Intelligent in-room technology
• Excellent soundproofing
• Attentive and efficient service
• A generous breakfast
• Access to the infinity pool, sauna and steam room
• A superb location near Liverpool Street and Spitalfields

Everything ran like clockwork from arrival to departure.

We hadn’t told the hotel about the milestone birthday, so we didn’t request any special arrangements. Even so, the service made the entire weekend feel like an occasion.

For the sake of balance, I tried to identify something meaningful to criticise. Yet nothing fell short during our stay.

Naturally, £500 per night won’t suit every budget. Still, if you already plan to spend at the five-star end of the London hotel market, Pan Pacific London delivers an experience that feels worthy of the price.

Who Should Stay at Pan Pacific London?

Pan Pacific London could work equally well for couples, friends, solo travellers, business guests and milestone celebrations.

Ultimately, suitability depends less on who you travel with and more on what you value from a luxury hotel.

If thoughtful details matter to you, Pan Pacific gets them right. The hotel combines contemporary interiors, generous rooms, clever technology, excellent service and genuinely impressive wellness facilities.

Those seeking old-world London grandeur may still prefer a traditional Mayfair hotel or somewhere like The Ned.

However, if you like the idea of waking above the City, swimming beside panoramic windows and having some of East London’s most exciting food and drink within walking distance, Pan Pacific London offers something much more contemporary.

Would I Stay at Pan Pacific London Again?

One hundred per cent.

The infinity pool alone would tempt me back. Nevertheless, the spacious room, huge bed, beautiful bathroom and exceptional comfort made this far more than a hotel chosen for one photogenic facility.

Pan Pacific London took me away from the traditional hotels I normally favour. In doing so, it proved that modern luxury can feel every bit as indulgent—and perhaps even more memorable.

Sometimes, pressing a button to close the curtains before sinking into an enormous bed provides exactly the kind of luxury a weekend away requires.
