Ingredients

For the shots

  • tsp ground turmeric
  • 8 –9cm fresh ginger peeled
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 375 g fresh pineapple peeled and chopped
  • –3 tsp raw runny honey or maple syrup, to taste
  • Generous pinch of fine sea salt
  • 150 –200ml cold water to loosen
  • Pinch of cracked black pepper optional

Instructions

Blend

  • Add the turmeric, ginger, lime juice, pineapple, honey or maple syrup, sea salt, cold water and black pepper, if using, to a high-speed blender. Blend for 1 full minute, until smooth.

Rest and re-blend

  • Let the mixture sit for 30 seconds, then blend again briefly. This helps the ground turmeric soften and gives a smoother texture.

Taste and adjust

  • Taste and adjust as needed. Add more honey or maple syrup for sweetness, more lime for sharpness, or more water if the shots feel too intense.

Strain and chill

  • Strain through a fine sieve if you prefer a smoother shot, or leave unstrained for more texture. Decant into a sealed bottle or small jars and chill.

Serve

  • Shake well before pouring and serve cold.

Notes

Hey Lolly's Top Tips
  • Start with 1¼ tsp turmeric. Ground turmeric can turn bitter if you go too heavy.
  • Pineapple is doing important work here; it keeps the shot juicy and bright rather than harsh.
  • A tiny pinch of salt balances the bitterness without making the shots taste salty.
  • Black pepper is optional, but it adds a little warmth and is often paired with turmeric.
  • Keep chilled and shake well before pouring.
  • Best consumed within 48 hours.
